Your child’s health, safety and well-being is a priority for me at all times.
I am happy to care for children with minor coughs and colds but will not care for children who are very unwell, infectious or running a high temperature. The best place for your child when ill is to be at home and I also need to consider the welfare of all the children in my care, ensuring they are not unnecessarily exposed to the risk of ill health in any way. If your child is suffering from vomiting or diarrhoea I ask that they are symptom free for 48 hours before returning to my service.
If your child becomes ill whilst in my care, I will make them as comfortable as possible, isolate them from the other children if necessary and reassure them. I will contact you immediately and continue to care for your child until you arrive.
I am happy to administer medication-please see my medication policy.
It is my policy that when children are provided with meals, snacks and drinks, in my setting these must be healthy, balanced and nutritious.
Parents are advised if their child is not eating well. The needs of children who have special diet requirements will be accommodated at all times.
I sit with the children whilst eating round the table and encourage good table manners. I try to make meal times an enjoyable experience.
I promote hand washing before handling or eating food and after use of the toilet/potty.
The potty and changing area are cleaned after every use. The bathroom, care room, food preparation areaare cleaned at the end of every day, more if necessary. Toys are cleaned regularly.
Please refer to my infection control policy for further information.
